The Holy Spirit’s Role in Salvation

• He’s the Big Initiator.  He convicts us of our sin (John 16:8).
• He’s the Change Maker. He transforms us (Titus 3:3-6).
• He’s the Inside Source, the “still small voice” who indwells us (1 Cor. 3:16).
• He’s the Family Connection.  The Holy Spirit baptizes us into the family of God (1 Cor. 12:13).
• He’s the Eternal Guarantee.  The Holy Spirit seals our salvation (2 Cor. 1:21-22).

The Holy Spirit Helps Us Live the Christian Life

First of all, it’s important that we live our lives under the control of influence of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11, Ephesians 5:18). When that happens, the Holy Spirit is:

• A Spiritual Teacher (1 Cor 2:10-13)
• A Worship Leader (Phil. 3:3; Romans 8:26)
• A Reflection of Christ (Galatians 5:22-23)
• The Wisdom of God (John 16:13)
• The Peace of God (Romans 8:6)

After working with college students and spending 11 years in the pastorate, Dr. Walter Russell turned his attention to training others in theology.  He is Associate Professor of New Testament at Talbot School of Theology, where he specializes in exegesis, hermeneutics, and New Testament theology, especially as they relate to world evangelism and the growth of the church.
