The Danger of Knowledge
When you think you’ve learned enough, you haven’t.You’ll never come to the point where you know enough about God. Knowing God is a lifelong pursuit that grows more rewarding as you learn more. It’s not like studying physics or 17th-century British poets, where you get to the point of saying, “I’ve had enough!” Learning about God brings you peace (because you know He is in control), joy (because you know He wants the best for you), and a desire to know God better.
There is a danger in knowledge, however. You can substitute what you know about God objectively for actually knowing God personally. You aren’t Sherlock Holmes, and God doesn’t belong under a magnifying glass. He belongs in your heart, where He can change you into the person He wants you to be, reflecting his glory to others.
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
