Teach children in some way throughout your life.

We must never forget that children are a gift from God. They are not our possession, our property, or even our right. As Henri Nouwen wrote, “Our children are our most important guests.”

We are responsible to care for and nurture our children, and we must also teach them. The greatest Teacher ever made it clear that we should never deny children who want us to bless and teach them. The disciples thought Jesus was too important and too busy to deal with children, but Jesus was quick to correct them. “Let the children come to me,” He said.

No matter where you are in life, you need to be around children. Your own children are your first responsibility, but you should also invite the children of others to come to you. Give them your time, your teaching, and your love.

Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
