The Role of Government
God doesn’t ask you to agree with those who govern you, but He does ask you to obey them and pray for them.
It’s very easy to blur the lines between our faith and our politics, but nowhere in Scripture does God tell us to elect and support only those people who agree with our theological positions. What God does tell us is to submit to them (Titus 3:1), obey them (Romans 13:1), and pray for them (1 Timothy 2:2).
Even Jesus, who lived on Earth at a time when the Roman government oppenly oppressed and persecuted Christians, never called for His followers to overthrow or even disobey the government, even though many in the crowds were hoping He would do just that. Instead, Jesus told people they needed a change of heart, not a change in government.
Just as we trust God to rule in our hearts, we need to trust Him by obeying those who rule over us, even if we disagree.
Remind your people to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good.
