Loving God
Loving God is the greatest thing you can do.
When we respond to God’s help and ask Him to save us and realize that God does just that–even though we don’t deserve it–we can have a variety of emotions: gratitude, relief, amazement and joy. But the greatest emotion–and the only one God asks us to have in response to His love and grace–is love.
We should be thankful and joyful in our Christian lives, but those emotions aren’t that hard to come by when we see God working in the small stuff in our lives. Loving God, however, takes effort and sacrifice. It doesn’t flow naturally. That’s why God commands us to do it.
This isn’t emotional love, but love that understands and truly wants the best for the other person. When you want the best for God, you give your best to God. You consciously and willfully love God with all tht is in you.
“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:5
