Working Together
Beautiful music is achieved not because the entire orchestra plays the same instrument, but because the different instruments are playing the same tune in the same key.
An interesting thing happens when people in a group work against each other rather than with each other: nothing. All of the productivity is slowed (and usually wasted) when people are more concerned about their own interests than the goal of the group. When this happens, hurt feelings and confusion are the result. There is no place where this problem crops up more often that at church.
You are probably involved in several group projects or a few committees at your church. (If you aren’t, you should be.) Instead of worrying about your own interests, become aware of how the strengths of others in the group can complement your weaknesses. Realize that God has uniquely equipped you, and each of the others, to carry out His purposes. Each one of you plays a necessary part in accomplishing God’s plan. Appreciate those differences.
God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.
