Never regret that God is your judge. He’s the fairest judge you’ll ever meet.

We make lousy judges. Unlike a real judge, who considers all the evidence, we make snap judgments based on what people look like, what they say, and what they do. How arrogant! Who do we think we are, passing judgment on others by what they do and how they look? No wonder we are so slow to forgive others. If we base our judgments on outer actions and appearances, which people really can’t change, when are we going to forgive them?

We can thank God that He isn’t like us. God looks beyond appearances to the inner qualities–like faith and character–that make us who we are. His justice and His judging are completely accurate and true, and His forgiveness is totally effective, because He sees the real us. We can trust God to judge us fairly and honestly.
