Be a Servant

Serving others is the most noble of human endeavors.

God’s Kingdom is unlike man’s kingdoms and governments. In those organizations, the leaders establish their greatness by exercising authority over their subjects. Those leaders want to be served and honored by those beneath them in the organization.

That’s not the way it is in the Kingdom of God. Christianity is based on service to others, so Christian leaders must be interested in serving rather than being served. Our example is Jesus Christ. He did not come to Earth to be served by others, but to serve (Philippians 2:7). He came to offer His life as a sacrifice for our sins. You may never be asked to give your life for someone else, but that attitude of self-sacrificing service should be the mark of your Christianity.

“But among you it should be quite different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.”

Matthew 20:26
