Rather than using God to solve your problems, use your problems to get closer to God.

God is the world’s greatest problem solver, but as long as you see God only in this role, there’s going to be a distance between you. Do you feel close to God? Does your life have meaning and purpose? If it doesn’t, them perhaps you’ve put God in a box. You keep Him around for those times when you need Him to help you out of a jam. But when things are going well, you keep Him in your little box and get along quite well all by yourself. Of so you think.

God is much more than a problem solver. He is the eternal, holy, unchangeable, loving, all-powerful, all-knowing God of the universe. He has rescued you from the pit and set your feet on higher ground. He wants to do more than solve your problems. God wants to give you direction and purpose every day of your life.

For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock?
