What you have should not determine who you are.Let’s make sure that we have several things straight when it comes to God and your stuff.

First, material possessions are not a measurement of how much God loves you. (If that were the case, then Jesus–with only a tunic or two–wasn’t loved all that much by His heavenly Father.)

Second, material possessions aren’t related to whether you are a good or a bad person.

Third, your possessions can become a barrier between you and God if you let them.

All of us spend too much time thinking about our stuff (or lack of stuff). Realize that your possessions are irrelevant to God (and they should be to you, too). Don’t let them interfere with God’s plan for your spiritual growth. Try to stay focused on God more than on your goods.

“So don’t worry about about having enough food or drink or clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.”
