Ultimate Comfort
Your ultimate comfort is knowing that God is with you. When small children fall and hurt themselves, they instinctively know what to do. They turn and run to a parent. Once a child is embraced in loving arms, the crying subsides and the pain is relieved. As an adult, you probably don’t fall down very much (unless you’re extremely uncoordinated). But there are plenty of occasions in life when the going is very tough, and you get bumped and bruised by the circumstances of life.
When you get hurt by life, do what children do: run to a parent. More specifically, run to your heavenly Father. You are never too old to turn to God for comfort. Think of Him as standing behind you with His arms outstretched to embrace you. Each time you “fall,” immediately turn to God. He won’t be occupied with something else. He will pick you up and comfort you.
We who have fled to [God] for refuge can take new courage, for we can hold on to his promises with confidence.
