Respect

Like all moral values, respect is caught more than it is taught.

Respect for authority has deteriorated in our society. Some of the erosion is due to the blatant failing of our leaders. (Their despicable conduct makes it impossible to respect them.) But much of the disrespect for authority comes from a selfish nature that does not want to subject itself to someone else’s control or leadership.

The loss of respect for authority is not limited to the social area. It is very prevalent in the spiritual realm as well. And you may be guilty of it yourself. Do you respect God? After all, He is the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving God who is intimately involved in the universe and in your life. You fragrantly disrespect Him when you are too busy to include Him in your life. You dishonor Him when you pursue your own petty desires instead of His plan.

Everyone deserves your respect, and it will be easier to give it to them if you start by respecting God.

Show respect for everyone. Love you Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king.
