Handling Money

Let money be your servant, not your master. The more you have, the more you have to lose. So, you purchase insurance. But the more insurance you have, the higher the premiums are. To afford the higher premiums, you try to make a little more money. With more money, your taxes are higher. To cover increased taxes, you buy some rental property in order to shelter some of your income. Now you need more insurance. And so it goes!

There is a vicious cycle involved with money. Don’t get caught in it. Keep your desires in check. If you feel compelled to match the acquisitions of your friends and neighbors, you will be in a race that has no finish line.

Let God help you establish an acceptable standard of living for your circumstances. If He gives you financial blessings that would allow you to raise your lifestyle a notch or two, then think about giving away the excess before you automatically spend it on yourself.

Don’t weary yourself trying to get rich. Why waste your time? For riches can disappear as though they had the wings of a bird!

Just what I wanted to read today, or rather what I would rather not read. Thanks for walking so close to the Lord. God brought me here today to reach me with that message. I am living below the aspirations I had twenty years ago and boy do I resent the path I have taken to get here. I just popped into the chapel to pray and as I left I got this awesome feeling that my life as I live it is God’s will for me. Then Bruce and Stan write this. God wants to lead me along his path for my life. I think it is about time I humbly sought to follow the path God has mapped out for my life, today.
