God Isn’t In Our Image
You wouldn’t want to know a God invented by people. The Bible tells us that God made the world and created people in His image (Gen. 1:1, 27). Apparently that isn’t good enough for the human race. The world has turned the tables and has created God in its image.
What if that were actually true? What if God had human characteristics and acted like people do? At first people would be thrilled. Their designer God wouldn’t judge them (He would only judge other people), and He wouldn’t be involved in their world (except when they really needed Him). God would be whatever they wanted Him to be. But then the thrill would turn to horror as people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes (Judges 17:6).
We should thank God that He isn’t in our image. He isn’t like us and doesn’t act the way we do. He doesn’t lie, He doesn’t change, He doesn’t judge unfairly, and He doesn’t love conditionally. He is God, and above Him there is no other.
“God is not a man, that he should lie. He is not human, that he should change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”
Numbers 23:19
I for one am grateful that God is not like “US” and that He never changes..To me He is like this huge “umbrella” that protects us from the “rain” of everyday life and we have the choice to stay under His protection or walk out from the protection of HIs mighty “umbrella” and get slammed by the rain storm (satan).Being made in His image is so much better because it gives us the strength and sense to come in out of the rain which we are unable to do on our own. Never change Heavenly Father as I need to be like You,not You like me.
