Feeling good about yourself begins with serving others.

In this age when some people have a net worth equal to the gross national produce of small nations, how do you know when you have enough? And do you have enough to feel good about your situation?

If you think that having a certain amount of money will make you feel secure, think again. That will never happen. Whether you have a zero balance in your bank account or enough to retire on, you are never going to feel like you have enough–if your contentment is tied to your net worth.

The only way to reach that point of personal satisfaction is to have a generous heart, no matter how much of how litte you have. If you cling to your possessions, they will never satisfy you. If you hold them loosely and share with others, you will always have enough.

“Give generously to those in need, always being ready to share with others” (1 Timothy 6:18).

One Response to “A Generous Heart”

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!

A generous heart, as most messages based on Gods word, spoke directly to me. I’m 62 years old and I plan to retire at the end of this year (a month or so away). The only question in my mind, and of loved ones, because they care, was, “what if the money runs out?” You mean, “what if I live longer than I’m planning for?” I’ll deal with that if it happens.

Last night, at a Thanksgiving Eve service, we were reminded from the 8th chapter of Deuteronomy that God’s people were punished by wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, but not fogotten. They were not only fed but their clothes didn’t even wear out. 40 years wearing the same clothes is pretty miraculous, even with today’s long wearing synthetics.

We like to think we need certain things, like a car (or two now) to get to work, a comfortable home, clothing, etc. and in the USA that’s not at all extravegant. The bottom line is: we need food, we need water, and we need Jesus. All else is icing on the cake to share with others.

Thank you Bruce and Stan for this site and all else you do,
