Who (or What ) Do You Love?
You can tell a lot about your priorities by reveiwing your checkbook ledger.
If your house were on fire and you had time to retrieve only one item, what would it be? Most likely, it would be the thing that has the most value to you. The value could be measured in financial terms, or it could just have great sentimental value. Your answer–whether you chose the shoebox full of cash or the family photo album–would reveal what’s important to you.
Many people proclaim to love God, but their actions don’t support that proclamation. Their time, energy, and resources are devoted to other things. God isn’t really important to them if they are able to ignore Him almost all of the time.
How about you? Are you in love with God? Don’t answer this question verbally. Examine the actions and thoughts of your life. What do they reveal as being important to you?
“Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.”
Matthew 6:21
