Chapter 1
Chapter 2
- What could you know about God if you never had a Bible to tell you?

- Review the biblical sequence of Creation on page 57. How could you use this information to talk with someone who doesn’t believe God created the universe?
Chapter 3
- Explain these three basic points of Darwinism:
- Random mutation
- Natural selection
- Common descent
- Why couldn’t Darwin prove his theory? What concerned him the most?
- Given the lack of physical evidence to support Darwin’s theory (both in his day and in ours), why has the scientific establishment been so eager to embrace it?
- What are the two main defects of Darwinism?
- Why doesn’t intelligent design stifle scientific inquiry?

- Why is it impossible to “prove” that God created the universe? By the same token, why is it impossible to “prove” that God didn’t create the universe? Given these two facts, why is it more reasonable to conclude that the universe was created than not?
- Explain this statement by William Dembski: “Naturalism has fewer resources than theism.”
Chapter 6
- With each passing decade, science determines that the possibility for life elsewhere in the universe becomes more remote. Would you expect this trend to continue? Why or why not?
- How would you answer someone who believed the earth and its inhabitants got here by a random, undirected process?
Chapter 7

Evidence + Faith = Belief
What kind of belief are you left with if you remove faith from the equation? What kind of belief are you left with if you remove evidence from the equation?
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote: A God who would let us prove his existence would be an idol.”
- Augustine wrote: “A God you can completely understand is an idol.” Explain how these statements complement each other?
Chapter 10
- Why do those who believe exclusively in scientific naturalism insist there is no such thing as the supernatural?
- Look at these two principles for faith:
- Faith requires some evidence of reliability
- Faith does not involve the disengagement of your brain
In the book we applied these to a physical object (a chair). Now apply these principles to an intangible object, such as love.
- What is it that keeps people like Stephen Hawking from acknowledging the existence of God and His involvement in the world (p. 231)?
Chapter 11

- Review the three responses (at the bottom of p. 248) people have to the incomprehensible God. Which response have you chosen? Why?
Chapter 12
- What is your position on embryonic stem cell research? Is destroying a living human embryo different or the same as aborting a human fetus? Why or why not?
- Why is Darwinism the prevailing creation story for our culture? Do you expect Darwinism to continue to dominate the culture in the future? Why or why not?
- Explain why Christianity and science are not competing worldviews.
